Optimized 3D printing of THz waveguides with cyclic olefin copolymer

There is a need for low-cost and easily accessible optical devices THz applications. can be manufactured rapidly with 3D printing while using transparent materials. In this work, we optimized the parameters high-resolution of filament, cyclic olefin copolymer (TOPAS), in order to print high quality pipe waveguides. We used nozzles diameters between 0.15 mm 0.80 wide range temperatures speeds. show that TOPAS printing, most important are bed temperature. The nozzle diameter were waveguides 5-9 cladding thickness 0.3-0.8 mm. Transmission measurements corroborated results predicted by simulations core mode frequencies 250-900 GHz.
